Lake Tahoe Summer Activities

North America’s largest alpine lake, Lake Tahoe is America’s playground. An ideal location for outdoor activities in the water and the surrounding mountainside, Lake Tahoe is also a hotspot for nightlife and casinos. With the south half of the lake within the Nevada borders and a short drive to Reno, Lake Tahoe south is the center of Las Vegas style fun set in gorgeous natural surroundings. The north half of Lake Tahoe is within the state of California and its appeal lies more in outdoor activities.

During the summer months visitors to Lake Tahoe flock to the beaches for a splash in the crystal clear waters or to soak up some sun while wondering at the green clad majesty of the mountains. Boating is a primary activity and there are many boat rental spots to meet the demands. Powerboats and water ski lessons are a popular choice, for the more serene boating experience, canoes and kayaks. Jet skis are always a fun choice for the Lake Tahoe visitor as well.

The latest technology in jet skis means that they are entirely environmentally friendly. Much more fuel efficient and with lower emissions than ever before, today’s generation of jet skis can be enjoyed by the most hardcore environmental activist without a twinge of guilt. Most rentals will provide detailed safety instructions, wetsuits to protect against hypothermia or shock and of course life jackets. Also the Lake Tahoe coast guard closely monitors the lake to make sure that jet skis and power boats are operated safely and with respect for other boaters.

Zipping over the water in a jet ski is a safe and fun way to spend your summer vacation at Lake Tahoe and the many rental shops around the lake will make sure you are well equipped to make the most of the experience.
