Lake Tahoe Golfing
Lake Tahoe is truly a golfer’s paradise. Set amongst some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the world, the golf courses around the lake and in the immediate area are breathtaking. There are fourteen golf courses within an hour’s drive of Lake Tahoe, so there is little chance you will run out of courses to play during your stay. There are a further six championship golf courses, including the famous Squaw Creek golf resort, and four executive golf courses. On the north side of the lake are courses designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and legendary golf course designers Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. The south side of the lake’s golf courses include the famous Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, home of the celebrity golf championship.

PGA professionals proliferate around Lake Tahoe, offering instruction at their golf schools. Names such as Jackie McKay and Ed McGargill are part of the roster, but almost every course will have a pro associated with it. One of the most famous residents of Lake Tahoe is Anika Sorenstram, the only female golfer to ever shoot a 59 in championship play. Winner of 69 tournaments to date, her golf course is sought out by ladies and men and her appearances on the hiking and biking trails are a thrilling sight as well.
